Raising funds for IODR and Haven House children’s hospice, The Khan Partnership LLP hosted an exclusive Masked Charity Ball, in conjunction with IODR sponsors Grange Hotels.
The glamorous black-tie affair took place at the new Grange St. Paul’s Hotel, where attendees made stunning entrances in a variety of ornate masks. Raising the profile of the event were also several well-known soap and TV personalities, who were spotted mingling with guests on the night.
Brother Beyond singer Nathan Moore provided the entertainment for the evening, whilst the charismatic Jonny Gould led the main auction. Former Haven House beneficiaries and IODR volunteer Ione Haddock also gave short presentations on each charity, poignantly drawing attention to the care and support that Haven House and IODR provide to vulnerable and needy children.
Funds donated and pledge to IODR at the Ball will go towards IODR’s planned construction of a third building at the Weligama Community Welfare and Education Centre (WCWEC) in southern Sri Lanka. This will incorporate a kindergarten to assist with the critical development of early learning (enabling mothers or other carers to seek work), and provide additional classroom and community facilities to hundreds of the most vulnerable children in Weligama; enabling IODR to continue to offer free education, play therapy, and health services exclusively for individuals state registered as ‘samurdhi, and recognised as being the very poorest and most needy in society.
